London - Saba:
British media outlets have revealed a seven-point plan prepared by the United States to end the Ukrainian conflict without providing security guarantees to Kyiv.
The British newspaper, The Telegraph, explained that this plan offers no security guarantees to Kyiv and stipulates that Russia will retain control over the liberated territories.
The first points stipulate an immediate ceasefire and direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
The reports stated: "The proposal includes formal US recognition of Russia's sovereignty over Crimea and implicitly recognizes other territories (liberated by Russia)".
The US initiative also includes unhindered access for Ukrainians to the Dnieper River estuary and the withdrawal of Russian forces from parts of Kherson Oblast.
According to the British newspaper, US Special Presidential Envoy Keith Kellogg expects to receive Ukrainian approval for this plan on Wednesday.
The newspaper added: "This plan will be a bitter pill for Ukraine, as Ukraine will lose territory without receiving any clear security guarantees from the United States".
The Washington Post reported on Tuesday, citing sources, that the United States will propose to European countries and Ukraine that they recognize Crimea as part of Russia at a meeting to resolve the Ukrainian conflict, to be held in London on Wednesday. Kyiv's allies hope to receive security guarantees for the former Soviet republic in return.
According to sources, the Ukrainian side considered the US proposal to resolve the conflict, presented to it last week in Paris, to be the last before Washington decides to withdraw from the peace process.
The Trump administration is mediating to end the crisis between Russia and Ukraine. In this context, the Saudi city of Jeddah hosted talks between delegations from the United States and Ukraine on March 11.
During these talks, Ukraine expressed its willingness to accept a US proposal for an immediate and temporary ceasefire for 30 days, which could be extended by mutual agreement between the parties, provided Russia accepts and simultaneously implements the agreement.
The Russian President Vladimir Putin announced his approval of a US proposal for a cessation of hostilities in Ukraine. Putin emphasized that this proposal is only acceptable if it leads to long-term peace and eliminates the root causes of the crisis.
