A horrific stabbing incident occurred today, Thursday near a school in the French city of Nantes, leaving one person dead and three others with injuries of varying severity, according to preliminary reports.
The incident took place around 12:30 p.m. local time. French news agency AFP reported that the assailant was a high school student who entered two classrooms without a known motive and attacked the victims.
School staff managed to restrain the suspect before his arrest, the agency added.
A security source told Le Monde that the suspect's name was not listed in criminal records, and no details were provided regarding the ages or genders of the victims.
Meanwhile, French Education Minister Élisabeth Borne posted on X (formerly Twitter), stating that she was heading to the scene alongside Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin. She expressed her "full solidarity with the victims" and support for the school community.
