Sana’a – SABA:
Today, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources launched the production and marketing of 887 tons of locally frozen broiler chicken as an alternative to imported products.
At the launch, Deputy Director of Agricultural Marketing and Trade, Ali Al-Harib, affirmed that the production and marketing of this quantity come within the framework of the ministry’s strategy and programs aimed at reducing the import bill and encouraging local production.
He stressed the need for all stakeholders to commit to producing, marketing, and freezing high-quality chicken to ensure fair pricing for both producers and consumers.
Meanwhile, the head of the Poultry Unit, Engineer Hilal Al-Jashari, explained that this quantity of broiler chicken is distributed among four import companies as part of the second phase of the program to produce and market frozen broiler chicken domestically instead of relying on imports.
He pointed out that the distribution process is carried out according to an organized mechanism involving multi-purpose cooperative associations, which include poultry breeders and producers, import traders, production companies, and poultry slaughterhouses. This is part of the ministry’s and the private sector’s efforts to manage and organize the poultry sector, boost local production, and reduce the import bill.
