Al-Bayda - SABA:
An expanded meeting was held today in Al-Bayda city, bringing together local authorities, scholars, tribal leaders, community committee representatives, and security officials to discuss ways to enhance community participation in preserving the components of Al-Bayda’s water project and ensuring its sustainability.
Governor Abdullah Idris stressed the need to raise public awareness on water conservation and rationalized usage.
He praised the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council for supporting service and development projects, as well as community initiatives to improve living conditions amid the ongoing aggression and siege.
Commended the Social Fund for Development (SFD) for its role in implementing developmental projects, including Al-Bayda’s water project, with Phase II now underway.
Sheikh Hussein Al-Haddar, Mufti of Al-Bayda, highlighted that the water project is a public trust, requiring collective responsibility from local authorities, community committees, and residents to safeguard it.
He underscored the critical role of community committees in promoting awareness to protect public interests.
Engineer Ahmed Al-Humairi (Water and Sanitation Foundation consultant) and Engineer Mohammed Al-Habsi (Project Director) reviewed:
Completion of Phase I, including water sources, reservoirs, and main/sub networks.
- Subscriber registration efforts.
Akram Al-Haddad, Head of the Community Steering Committee, outlined necessary steps to:
- Protect the project’s infrastructure.
- Ensure Phase II completion.
- Promote water conservation awareness for sustainable, clean water access to every household.
