The Council of Hodeida University, in its meeting chaired by University President Dr. Mohammed Al-Ahdal, reviewed on Wednesday academic performance reports from colleges and educational centers, as well as the progress in implementing tasks under the approved plan for the previous academic year.
The meeting, attended by the university's vice presidents, deans, their deputies, and the Secretary-General, examined ongoing preparations for the launch of the new academic year 1447 AH / 2025-2026 AD, along with mechanisms to enhance academic and administrative readiness.
The council also discussed the possibility of establishing a social solidarity fund for university staff, approving the allocated percentage of study seats in rural districts, and reviewing regulations for granting free seats to children of university employees.
Additionally, the council addressed recommendations from the Academic Affairs Department regarding promotions and adjustments for several faculty members and their assistants, as well as requests for awarding master's degrees to postgraduate students.
The meeting touched on the intake capacity for the Medical Microbiology and Immunology program in the upcoming academic year, along with student affairs proposals concerning the approval of examination committees, cumulative GPAs for graduates from several colleges and centers, and the correction of academic records for some students.
The council emphasized the importance of enhancing academic and administrative performance, improving institutional efficiency in line with the university’s strategic vision, and ensuring the advancement of educational outcomes, university environment development, and sustainable educational goals.
Dr. Al-Ahdal stated that the university is committed to upholding academic quality standards, modernizing educational programs, and fostering an environment conducive to learning, research, and knowledge—aligning with current demands and serving societal needs.
He affirmed that the university’s future success relies on its qualified staff, productive colleges, and research centers, urging all academic and administrative units to responsibly engage with development requirements and work collaboratively as one team.
