Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Samir Baja'alah met on Wednesday with World Food Programme (WFP) envoy to Yemen Abdullah al-Wardat to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the humanitarian field.
The meeting, which was attended by Deputy Minister for the Development Sector Ali al-Razami focused on the vital role of the WFP in mobilizing funding and resuming its operations, which have been suspended for several months.
Minister Baja'alah stressed the importance of the Programme’s role in alleviating humanitarian suffering, particularly in mobilizing resources and resuming its suspended activities.
He pointed out that the interruption of food assistance has worsened the humanitarian crisis across various areas, especially within displaced persons communities.
For his part, the WFP envoy provided an update on his ongoing communication with donors to mobilize the necessary resources to ensure the continuation of food assistance for those in need throughout Yemen.
