Ibb - Saba:
A meeting in Ibb province, chaired by the Governorate’s Secretary-General, Amin Al-Warafi, on Thursday discussed arrangements for holding the Ibb Summer Festival for Agricultural Products.
The festival, set to be launched at the end of August, is organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources in cooperation with the agricultural sector in the governorate and the Fourth Military Region. It aims to support local farmers and producers, promote the agricultural products for which Ibb is renowned, and raise community awareness about the importance of agriculture as a pillar for achieving self-sufficiency.
The meeting, attended by Brigadier General Saleh Hajeb, Assistant Commander of the Fourth Military Region, reviewed a proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture’s Exports Department regarding the festival and its accompanying agricultural exhibition, as well as the executive plan for their implementation with broad community participation.
The meeting, which included the governorate’s Agricultural Sector official, Engineer Hammoud Al-Rassas, directors of the Tourism Office (Ghanem Awsaj), the Media Office (Abdulbasit Al-Nuwa’), the Agricultural Executive Unit (Dr. Mohammed Al-Qadri), and the Ministry of Agriculture’s Exports Department (Engineer Mohsen Atef), approved the festival’s schedule, venue, and the formation of main and subsidiary organizing committees, along with volunteer teams and their respective tasks.
Al-Warafi emphasized the festival’s importance in enhancing community participation in the agricultural sector and highlighting Ibb’s position on the national agricultural and tourism map. He noted the governorate’s diverse environment, climate, rich agricultural production, and experience in organizing events and festivals.
He pointed out that this agricultural event coincides with the Yemeni people and the Islamic nation’s celebrations of the Prophet’s birthday (Mawlid al-Nabi), urging concerned offices and committees to adhere to the schedule and exert efforts to ensure the event’s success.
The Secretary-General affirmed the local authority’s leadership support and commitment to the festival’s success, calling on all community members to actively engage to boost economic, cultural, and tourism activity in the governorate.
For his part, the Assistant Commander of the Fourth Military Region stated that the festival aligns with the directives of the revolutionary and political leadership to support the agricultural sector and achieve self-sufficiency, stressing the importance of concerted efforts for its success.
Meanwhile, the governorate’s Agricultural Sector official noted that the exhibition will feature diverse sections for agricultural products, fruits, vegetables, honey, cash and staple crops, exports, and processing industries.
He highlighted the exhibition’s goal of supporting local products and showcasing their quality in an organized manner, calling on cooperative associations and agricultural product traders to benefit from this initiative in promoting local products and encouraging farmers to improve their quality.
