SANAA, Sep. 8 (Saba) - Minister of Foreign Affairs Eng. Hisham Sharaf on Tuesday met Acting Resident Coordinator and Resident Representative of the World Health Organization to Yemen Altaf Musani.
During the meeting, Sharaf and Musani discussed the activities and work programs of the WHO office in Yemen and the efforts related to combating the Covid-19 epidemic.
They also discussed the requirements for joint work and cooperation between the authorities in Sanaa and WHO to overcome any difficulties facing the organization in its field work and meet its administrative and operational needs.
The Foreign Minister affirmed the National Salvation Government's cooperation and all its bodies in various areas to achieve the best results.
Sharaf stressed the need for international organizations and humanitarian actors to cooperate with the health sector in Yemen, taking into account their humanitarian responsibilities towards supporting this sector.
He pointed out that the health sector suffers from collapse and a scarcity of medicines and medical supplies due to destructive approach undertaken by the countries of aggression in stopping many health projects and reducing necessary funds in the international support program for Yemen, as well as detaining oil ships necessary to continue to run health facilities, which represents a clear violation of war laws and humanitarian principles.
Musani emphasized the WHO's commitment to make every effort to support the health sector in Yemen and contribute to alleviating the suffering of citizens.
The WHO official pointed out that the Organization is making all possible efforts to arrange possible support to deal with the coming waves of the Corona epidemic that are expected in the coming months.
He praised the cooperation the organization received from the Ministry of Public Health and Population in the Capital Sanaa.
