Sana'a - Saba:

Prime Minister Ahmed al-Rahawi received on Wednesday Director-General of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and his accompanying delegation, who is currently visiting Yemen.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister welcomed the UN official and his accompanying delegation, noting the level of cooperation in the health sector in particular, and the importance of enhancing it to serve the urgent needs in this sector and contribute to supporting its development plans.

Al-Rahawi pointed to the continued repercussions of the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression and siege that has been ongoing for ten years on various sectors.

The Prime Minister pointed to the responsibility borne by the Government of Change and Construction at the national level, including the provinces and regions under the Saudi-Emirati occupation, noting the five rules governing the path of cooperation with UN and international organizations operating in Yemen and their importance in stabilizing and developing joint cooperation in various development and humanitarian fields.

Al-Rahawi praised the position of the Secretary-General of the United Nations regarding the tragic conditions in the Gaza Strip, describing the position as responsible, ethical and courageous.

The meeting, which was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Jamal Amer, discussed ways to strengthen cooperation relations between the government and the World Health Organization during the coming period, focusing on the priorities of the country's needs, especially in the health sector, in addition to the impact of the decline in the level of UN and international support on projects and the level of emergency humanitarian interventions.

The measures taken by the government, represented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, to address the stalled projects funded externally and facilitate humanitarian work were discussed.

In turn, the UN official expressed his regret for the continued critical humanitarian situation resulting from the aggression and siege, hoping that peace and stability will prevail in Yemen and that its people will enjoy comprehensive stability, stressing at the same time the commitment of the United Nations to do what is required of it in the humanitarian aspect.
