The National Program for Combating the Phenomenon of Begging, funded by the General Authority of Zakat, concluded today its specialized training program in social rehabilitation and small business management at the program's shelter center in the capital's Sana'a.
The two-week training program aimed to equip 56 women with skills in social rehabilitation, psychological support, and small project management. It sought to prepare them to manage their projects as part of the program's vision for economic empowerment.
The program's executive director, Yasser Sharafuddin, emphasized the importance of benefiting from the training program in developing life skills and managing projects. He explained that the program had conducted field studies on the families of the participants, visiting their residences to assess their living conditions and implement interventions aimed at improving their social and economic situations.
He highlighted that the training program would be followed by an economic empowerment phase, enabling participants to engage in work and production for legitimate income. Sharafuddin urged the women to reject any exploitation by their families and to refrain from returning to begging, encouraging them to report any instances of coercion or exploitation to the program's administration.
At the closing ceremony, Salwa Mutahar Zaid, the shelter center's director, distributed participation certificates, health kits, mattresses, and blankets to all participants.
