Stockholm - Saba:
Sweden today announced more than $27 million to provide Ukraine with its Patriot anti-aircraft missile system.
The Swedish Ministry of Defence said in a statement: "The government has decided to allocate 300 million Swedish crowns ($27.1 million) as indirect support for Ukrainian air defense. The money will be sent to Romania to compensate for the Patriot missiles that were transferred to Ukraine."
As the ministry explained, funds from previously announced aid packages were allocated to Ukraine.
In June, Romania's Supreme Defense Council approved the transfer of the Patriot air defense system to Ukraine.
Ukraine has asked Western countries more than once to provide air defense means in particular.
