Geneva - Saba:
The World Health Organization confirmed that children in the Gaza Strip "are paying the price of war with their lives."
This came in a post by the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, on the "X" platform last night, in which he explained that according to preliminary information, "seven of the children born in Gaza during December 2024 died due to hypothermia."
He said: "Every child deserves to start a healthy and safe life, but children in Gaza are paying the price of war with their lives."
Ghebreyesus renewed his call for a ceasefire in Gaza.
In a related context, the organization said in a post on "X": "As temperatures drop in Gaza, heavy rains and cold weather make survival more difficult for displaced families."
She said that many people are facing shelter problems due to water entering and damaging tents, indicating that seven newborn babies lost their lives due to hypothermia (last December). She pointed out that the cold winter conditions also increase the spread of diseases.
