Tehran - Saba:
Any threat or attack on Iran's borders will be met with a firm and decisive response from the armed forces, the commander of the ground forces of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards said on Wednesday.
According to the Iranian Tasnim News Agency, Brigadier General Brigadier General "Mohammad Pakpour" said in a statement to reporters on the sidelines of the Great Prophet 19 maneuvers taking place in western Iran, that these maneuvers have two aspects, one of which is security and the other defensive.
"As for the security aspect, it has begun in the western regions of the country, especially in the heights of Keleh Bamo, and soon we will witness the launch of the defensive aspect of the maneuvers in southern Iran."
He stated that the heights of Bamo are important because they are adjacent to the Iraqi province of Diyala, which was a hotbed of terrorist and takfiri groups, and therefore this area is very sensitive in particular.
These maneuvers are part of the annual program of the Iranian armed forces maneuvers and their goal is to raise combat capabilities and raise the level of capabilities to monitor and confront threats, he said.
He explained that in 2017, a group of 21 ISIS members infiltrated from these heights into Iranian territory and were eliminated, and today, due to the secret activities of the enemies behind our borders, we have carried out these maneuvers.
He stressed that the readiness of the Iranian armed forces is at its highest levels and that border security is of utmost importance to the Revolutionary Guards.
