The mother of Kamal Odwan Hospital's director in the northern Gaza Strip, the Palestinian captive Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, died of heart attack on Wednesday.

According to the Palestine Today Agency, Family sources declared the death of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya's mother this morning after suffering a heart attack.

On December 28, the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip said the Israeli army had arrested the director of Kamal Odwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, Hussam Abu Safiya.

The Physicians for Human Rights organization said "Israel prevents the detained director of Kamal Odwan Hospital, Hussam Abu Safiya, from meeting a lawyer."
