US state dept. approves US$-7.4-bln arms deals for Israel

Washington - Saba:

The US State Department has approved two arms deals for the Zionist entity, including missiles and military equipment worth a total of $7.41 billion.

According to US media, the department notified the Defense Security Cooperation Agency and Congress. The first deal includes munitions and guided bombs, including 2,166 GBU-39/B small-diameter bombs, 2,800 MK 82 bombs, and more than 17,000 FMU-152A/B detonation fuses, in addition to logistical support equipment, worth $6.75 billion, and deliveries of the weapons for this deal are expected to begin this year.

The second deal includes 3,000 AGM-114 Hellfire air-to-ground missiles, along with support and testing equipment, spare parts, software, logistics and training services, valued at approximately $660 million, with deliveries expected to begin in 2028.

The US State Department said that these deals aim to “enhance Israel’s defense capabilities to confront current and future threats, and improve military cooperation between the two countries,” claiming that these sales will not affect the military balance in the region, and that these deals confirm Washington’s commitment to supporting Israel militarily.

This comes as part of the US President Donald Trump administration’s move to enhance its military support for the Zionist entity, as he said in a previous statement that “a large number of things” that “Israel” requested from the United States are currently being delivered, after press reports indicated that his administration released a shipment of 2,000-pound (907 kg) bombs.

Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social: “A lot of things that Israel has requested and paid for, but have not "(Former President) Biden is sending it, it is now on its way to delivery."

The American news website "Axios" previously reported that Trump ordered the Department of Defense to lift the ban on 2,000-pound bombs. This type of large bomb, which is dropped from the air, is accurate and highly destructive, and is generally used to cause extensive damage against targets such as military installations, command centers, and infrastructure.
