The Russian Ministry of Defense on Monday said the naval maneuvers "Maritime Security Belt 2025" were launched in the Iranian port of Chabahar, with the participation of warships from Russia, Iran and China.
The ministry said in a statement that the Russian side is participating in these exercises, a group of ships from the Pacific Fleet, namely the frigate "Rizki", the frigate "Aldar Tsedengapov" and the medium-sized tanker "Pechinga".
Prior to the start of these international naval exercises, the head of the Russian delegation, Admiral Alexei Sysoev, who is currently in Iran, informed the Commander of the Russian Navy, Admiral Alexander Moiseev, about the readiness of the Russian warship group to participate in the aforementioned maneuvers.
At the end of the opening ceremony, which was attended by delegations from more than ten observer countries, in addition to the crews of the Russian, Iranian and Chinese navies, a brief presentation was given on the next naval phase of the exercises.
According to the presentation, the crews of the ships participating in the maneuvers will train in the northern Indian Ocean for several days on the tasks of liberating hijacked ships, conducting search and rescue operations at sea, and firing artillery at sea and air targets.
The international naval maneuvers "Maritime Security Belt 2025" are being held for the seventh time and are supervised by the Iranian side. These exercises were held for the first time in the Arabian Sea in 2018.
Ships from the Iranian Navy, the Russian Navy, and the Chinese Navy are permanently participating in these maneuvers. About 15 warships, support ships, and combat boats, in addition to naval aviation helicopters, are participating in the exercises this year.
These maneuvers aim to ensure maritime security, combat piracy and terrorism at sea, and protect maritime communications.
