Vienna - Saba:
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) warned of the catastrophic consequences that could result from the collapse of the agency, stressing that it would deprive an entire generation of Palestinian children of education.
The Agency's Commissioner-General, Philippe Lazzarini, said that the lack of education would exacerbate instability in the region, expressing his deep concern about the social and economic repercussions resulting from this deprivation.
He stressed that there is a real danger of the agency's collapse and collapse if its severe financial crisis continues.
He added that if UNRWA collapses, we will certainly sacrifice a generation of children who will be deprived of a proper education.
Lazzarini described UNRWA as a "lifeline" for approximately six million Palestinian refugees spread across the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria.
He stated that education is a fundamental right and a crucial tool for achieving peace and stability, warning that losing this opportunity means losing a bright future for Palestinian children.
The UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, stated that the Zionist entity aims to liquidate UNRWA, as it is a symbol of the international presence in Palestine.
The UNRWA previously announced that approximately 260,000 children from the Gaza Strip have joined the agency's distance learning program since last January.
