New meetings between the American and Ukrainian delegations have begun in Riyadh. Agence France-Presse quoted an official source as saying, "We are still working with the Americans," without providing any further details.
Bloomberg revealed some details of these talks, citing a source, stating that the two countries' delegations are specifically discussing a "ceasefire in the Black Sea."
Meetings between representatives of Russia and the United States concluded in Riyadh on Monday, March 24, after more than 12 hours of consultations. During the consultations, the two delegations discussed issues related to resolving the Ukrainian conflict. A source in the Russian delegation told the Russian news agency TASS that the parties agreed on a joint statement, which is expected to be distributed on Tuesday by the Kremlin and the White House. The participants have not yet commented on the results of the meeting.
The Russian delegation to the consultations was headed by Chairman of the Federation Council International Affairs Committee Grigory Karasin and Advisor to the Director of the Federal Security Service Sergei Beseda.
The American delegation included Andrew Peck, Senior Director for European Affairs at the National Security Council, Michael Anton, Director of Policy Planning at the State Department, as well as staff from the offices of Special Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg and Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs Mike Waltz.
Russian Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov stated that the main issue of the consultations will be matters related to the resumption of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, as Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump reached agreements on this matter in their phone conversation.
