Gaza - Saba:
The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) said, "Egypt told us that there is no agreement to stop the war without negotiating the disarmament of the resistance, and we told them that discussing the issue of the resistance's weapons is completely rejected."
"The proposal that Egypt conveyed to us includes the release of half of the enemy prisoners in the first week of the agreement, and includes a temporary truce for 45 days in exchange for the introduction of food and shelter," Al-Jazeera satellite channel quoted a Hamas leader as saying on Monday.
A leader in Hamas pointed out that "our negotiating delegation was surprised that the proposal conveyed by Egypt includes an explicit text regarding the disarmament of the resistance, and that the movement informed Egypt that the entrance to any agreement is the cessation of war and withdrawal, not weapons."
Hamas leader Taher al-Nunu noted that the enemy is seeking to "release its prisoners without addressing the issues of the second phase of the agreement, which includes a permanent ceasefire and a full withdrawal from Gaza Strip."
Regarding the position on the resistance weapon, al-Nunu stressed that it is "a red line, and is not up for negotiation," explaining that "the survival of this weapon is linked to the continued existence of the enemy."
Yesterday, the Hamas negotiating delegation, headed by Khalil al-Haya, the head of the movement in Gaza Strip, held a series of meetings in the Egyptian capital Cairo with Egyptian officials and Qatari officials, as part of the joint efforts between Cairo and Doha to bridge the differences and stabilize the truce agreement.
These moves come in the wake of the collapse of the ceasefire agreement, which entered into force on January 19 and lasted for 58 days, before the enemy reneged on its terms and resumed its aggression at dawn on March 18, 2025, while imposing a tight siege on Gaza Strip.
