The United Nations Rapporteur for Human Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Francesca Albanese, warned on Tuesday that time is running out to save the Palestinian citizens in Gaza Strip from ethnic cleansing that also extends to the occupied West Bank, stressing that the United Nations is now fragmented and completely paralyzed in its ability to act as an organization.
Albanese described the "Israeli" genocidal war on Gaza Strip as the most sadistic and militarized since the end of World War II in 1945, where people are being killed by the dozens and hundreds in a matter of hours, and nothing is left.
The UN rapporteur said in an interview with Al-Araby Al-Jadeed newspaper: "The facts on the Palestinian land are very tragic, and the illegitimacy of the 'Israeli' occupation and the associated infrastructure is becoming more and more evident."
Albanese emphasized that the UN independent experts have been the most outspoken in condemning the grave and egregious violations of international law that have occurred in the OPT.
International law has failed to stop the genocidal war, she said, "not because of a limited system of rules, but because of inoperative enforcement mechanisms. International law is only as strong as the will and ability of states to enforce it.
