Haifa - Saba:
A protest was held in front of the Israeli Central Court on Tuesday, rejecting the administrative detention of Raja Ighbaria, a 73-year-old leader of the Abnaa al-Balad movement. The protest coincided with a hearing to confirm his administrative detention.
According to the Palestinian Safa News Agency, the Higher Follow-Up Committee for Arab Citizens and the Solidarity Committee with Ighbaria called for the protest.
The participants, estimated to number in the dozens, raised banners bearing slogans demanding the release of Ighbaria and the administrative detainees.
Some of the banners read: "No to administrative detention," "Freedom for prisoners," "Stop the abuse of Palestinian prisoners," and "Freedom for Raja Ighbaria."
On April 15, the so-called Zionist Minister of War, Yisrael Katz, imposed administrative detention on Ighbaria for four months. This followed his arrest from his home in Umm al-Fahm on April 8. He was then taken to Kishon Detention Center, from where he was transferred to Jalameh Prison.
Available statistics and information indicate that there are approximately 27 young men from the Arab community in the occupied territories under administrative detention, the majority of whom have been subjected to administrative detention for six months.
According to the political bureau of the Abnaa al-Balad movement, the arrest of leader Raja Ighbaria comes within the context of the war being waged against all Palestinians.
