Russian tennis player Mira Andreeva has secured a spot in the second round of the Madrid Open, a WTA 1000 tournament held on clay courts with a total prize pool exceeding seven million dollars.
The rising Russian star claimed her victory against Czech opponent Marie Bouzková in straight sets (6-3, 6-4) during their match on Thursday, which lasted one hour and 46 minutes.
The 17-year-old Andreeva is now set to face Poland’s Magdalena Fręch in the second round of the Mutua Madrid Open. Fręch earlier defeated Spain’s Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in a three-set thriller (7-5, 6-7, 6-4).
