Tunisian star Ons Jabeur qualified Monday for the second round of the Brisbane Tennis Championship, held on hard courts in Australia.

The Tunisian advanced to the round of 32 after defeating Chinese Zheng Saisai with a score of 7/6 (7/5) and 6/4 in the first round.

Ons will play in the next round against Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, ranked 28th in the world, who qualified without participating in the first round.

In other matches in the first round, Romanian Anca Todoni defeated Spanish Cristina Boccia, Russian Paulina Kudermetova defeated Chinese Wang Xinyu, and Ukrainian Anhelina Kalininya defeated another Chinese Wang Yafan.

American Peyton Stearns defeated Russian Veronika Kudermetova, Chinese Yue Yuan defeated Dutchwoman Arnitska Rus, and Australian Kimberly Birrell defeated her compatriot Priscilla Hon.

Russian Anastasia Potapova advanced after her Romanian opponent Ana Bogdan withdrew.
