The Yemeni Authority for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control destroyed various goods and merchandise that do not meet approved standard specifications in Sana'a, Hodeidah, Al-Rahida and Afar.
The Authority explained in a statement issued today that it destroyed at the Sana'a Control Center a quantity of multi-flavored industrial drink powder, the product of which does not meet approved standard specifications and according to Circular No. 3 of 2012 AD prohibiting the production, import and circulation of industrial drink powders to which artificial sweeteners are added, weighing less than 100 grams.
The statement pointed out that in Hodeidah, detergents and disinfectants were destroyed that did not meet specifications in terms of product leakage from the packages, as well as a quantity of joint adapter plugs that did not meet specifications in terms of having multiple openings and no protective seals.
He pointed out that in the Afar Control Center, cosmetic capsules were destroyed that did not contain explanatory data, and in the Al-Raheda Control Center, juice powder, electronic hookah, electrical outlets, and leak-proof adhesive glue were destroyed that did not meet specifications in terms of some of them being of unknown origin and their expiration date, and some of them are products prohibited from being imported under Cabinet Resolution No. 63 of 2018 and the issued circulars.
The statement noted that the destruction process was carried out in cooperation with customs, security agencies, and relevant authorities in accordance with the law and the powers granted to the Authority based on its role in protecting the health and safety of the consumer.
The Authority stressed its keenness to protect the health and safety of the consumer and reject any products that do not meet specifications and are unsafe for consumption or use or pose a danger to the life of the citizen.
It called on all importers, producers and manufacturers to adhere to standard specifications in import, production and manufacturing processes, stressing that it will not tolerate any products that violate specifications and standards.
