Tokyo - Saba:
Japanese stocks opened lower on Wednesday at the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

According to Japanese media, the 225-share Nikkei index fell 0.51 percent to 39,879.36 points, while the broader Topix index fell 0.39 percent to 2,775.66 points.

Stocks in Japan closed higher at the end of trading on Tuesday, with gains in the mining, electricity and chemical production, oil and plastics sectors.
