The Chinese Ministry of Commerce late on Saturday announced the establishment of 59,080 new companies with foreign capital across China during 2024, an increase of 9.9 percent compared to the previous year.
The total actual foreign direct investment in China reached 826.25 billion yuan (about 114.76 billion dollars), the ministry said in a statement, despite a decrease of 27.1 percent compared to 2023.
In terms of sectors, foreign direct investment flows to the manufacturing sector amounted to 221.21 billion yuan, while the services sector recorded 584.56 billion yuan.
The high-tech manufacturing sector attracted 96.29 billion yuan, accounting for 11.7 percent of the total FDI inflows.
At the sector level, investment in medical equipment manufacturing increased by 98.7 percent, the professional technical services sector grew by 40.8 percent, and the computer and office equipment manufacturing sector increased by 21.9 percent.
In terms of investment sources, FDI from Spain increased by 130.8 percent, Singapore by 10.8 percent, and Germany by 2.2 percent.
