The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Samir Baja'ala, met today with UNICEF Representative John Luca.
During the meeting, which was attended by the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs for the Social Welfare Sector, Yasser Sharaf Al-Din, and the Directors of the Social Welfare Fund, Amir Al-Warith, and the Disabled Care Fund, Dr. Ali Mughli, several topics related to the cash assistance project for the year 2025 were discussed, especially defining the roles and responsibilities between the Welfare Fund and the Social Fund before implementing the project, and taking into account the recommendations of the committee assigned to this project.
In the meeting, Minister Baja'ala stressed the keenness to support the Social Welfare Fund and enhance the services it provides to poor families. Pointing out the importance of UNICEF having an effective role in this regard by mobilizing donor funding to support the Fund's efforts.
He noted the level of partnership between the Ministry and UNICEF.. expressing hope that this partnership will be strengthened by financing additional projects and activities to provide comprehensive social protection for poor and vulnerable families.
He stressed the importance of including support provided to the Fund in capacity building and institutional support, as this is important in rehabilitating the Fund's branches to enable them to perform their role and provide their services in a better way.
For his part, the UNICEF representative stressed the organization's keenness to expand the partnership and work with the Ministry of Social Affairs to help poor and needy families.. pointing out the importance of completing all arrangements to launch the cash assistance project for the year 2025 AD.
