WhatsApp accuses Israeli company of spying on its users
[Sat, 01 Feb 2025 13:12:32 +0300]

Washington - Saba:
WhatsApp, owned by Meta, has accused the Israeli cyber company Paragon of attempting to hack a number of its users' accounts, targeting about 90 users, including journalists and activists.

WhatsApp said in a statement that it sent a warning to Paragon after discovering the attempts, asking the company to stop the malicious activities.

According to sources in WhatsApp, the attacks were identified and stopped later, and details of the attacks were sent to the research center "Citizen Lab" for further analysis. The company did not mention precise details about the identity of the targeted users or their locations.

These accusations are part of a series of cases related to software intended for spying, which contribute to escalating concerns about privacy and personal security on the Internet, especially in light of the increasing use of these tools by governments and private companies to spy on opponents and journalists around the world.
