Gaza - Saba:
The Rafah crossing on Saturday was reopened for the first time since the Zionist army took control of it last May, Palestinian sources said, as it is expected that the Palestinian wounded and patients would begin to leave the crossing in batches.
According to the Palestinian Information Center, 50 patients and wounded left the Gaza Strip, most of them children suffering from cancer and heart diseases, accompanied by a delegation from the World Health Organization.
The children arrived with families from different areas of the Gaza Strip to the Nasser Medical Complex in the southern Gaza Strip, where they were transferred via a large bus to the Rafah crossing.
Families complained that the World Health Organization prevented more than one companion from leaving with each patient, after news spread on Friday that three companions were allowed with each patient.
The enemy army radio said on Friday: The army withdrew from the Rafah border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt.
The European Union announced the deployment of its civilian mission at the crossing, and the spokesman for the European Commission for Foreign Affairs, Anwar Al-Anuni, said: The Union's civilian mission began yesterday at the Rafah crossing at the request of the Palestinians and the Zionists.
The mission will include cooperation with Palestinian staff on the border and providing medical care until the end of the first phase of the ceasefire.
In turn, the World Health Organization welcomed the move scheduled today to evacuate 50 patients through the Rafah crossing, which is the first of its kind since the ceasefire began and since the closure of the crossing last May.
The organization said that 12,000 to 14,000 people still need medical evacuation outside Gaza.
