Eng. Adel Margham, the head of the Customs Authority, met today with Mana Al-Asal, the CEO of the General Organization for Coffee Development and Marketing. They discussed strategies to regulate the importation of coffee while protecting local products. The aim is to promote the expansion of local coffee cultivation and enhance its quality.
The meeting touched on the importance of developing new mechanisms that contribute to regulating imports, and ensuring the protection of local products from unfair competition, thus contributing to enhancing local production and providing a suitable environment for increasing production.
The head of the Authority stressed the importance of joint cooperation between various government and private agencies to ensure the protection of the local product, and to provide all possible support to local farmers to ensure the sustainability of coffee cultivation.
For his part, the President of the Coffee Foundation appreciated the efforts made by the Customs Authority in organizing the import process, considering this cooperation an important step towards achieving food security and developing the coffee sector in the country.
