Lebanese Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem announced that the date of the funeral of the martyrs Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashim Safieddine as secretaries general will be on February 23, revealing that the party leadership had completed the election of Safieddine as secretary general, but he was martyred days before the announcement of his election.
Qassem explained in a speech on Sunday that Sayyed Nasrallah was buried as a deposit after security conditions prevented his funeral, and that his funeral will be a "majestic mass funeral" in which figures from home and abroad, forces, parties and officials will participate.
He noted that the title of the funeral ceremony is "We are on the covenant."
"We decided to postpone this announcement to this time on the basis that this characterization will be present during the funeral," he explained.
Sayyed Nasrallah will be buried in an area between the old and new airport roads, while Sayyed Safieddine will be buried in his hometown of Deir Qanoun.
He called for no shooting at the funeral because "shooting is a denial and harms people" and is "not in accordance with customs, law, humanity or morality."
