A meeting chaired by Minister of Culture and Tourism Dr. Ali Al-Yafei discussed the details related to the preparation of the paving project for the historic city of Zabid, which is registered on the World Heritage List.
The meeting, which included the general coordinator of the city of Zabid, Abdul Wahab Al-Yousefi, and the consultant of the former Zabid paving project, Engineer Ahmed Al-Qabati, discussed the paving works that were carried out in the city during the previous period, which included six stages that resulted in the completion of 35 percent of the paving works in the city.
At the meeting, the Culture and Tourism Minister emphasized the keenness to exert efforts aimed at preserving the human, cultural and civilizational heritage of historic cities, including Zabid.
Minister Al-Yafei pointed out the importance of the historical role of Zabid as a city that was famous and represented a beacon for science and scholars, stressing efforts to preserve the historical and cultural brilliance of the ancient city and to mobilize official, popular and private sector efforts to contribute to the funding of the project to complete the paving of the city.
The General Coordinator of Zabid assigned Al-Youssefi to follow up on the studies of the paving project for the rest of the historic city.
Zabid is an exceptionally important archaeological and historical site, thanks to its local , military engineering , civil planning, and was the capital of Yemen from the 13th to the 15th century.
