Maryland - Saba:
A recent study at Johns Hopkins University in Maryland, USA, revealed on Saturday, that for every additional 30 minutes of weekly physical activity, there was a four percent decrease in the risk of dementia.
This means that the minimum amount of physical activity to achieve a degree of prevention is only five minutes per day.
The protective effects of exercise against dementia remained constant regardless of frailty status, indicating that physical activity benefits brain health even for frail older adults.
According to "Study Finds", current guidelines recommend 150 minutes of weekly exercise, and this study indicates that starting with much smaller, achievable activity goals can provide significant benefits for brain health.
