Atletico Madrid temporarily topped the Spanish Football League standings, after defeating its guest, Athletic Bilbao 1:0, in the match that brought them together on Saturday evening, within the competitions of the twenty-sixth round of the competition, which also witnessed Real Madrid's loss to its host, Real Betis 2:1.
In the first match, Atletico Madrid succeeded in achieving its sixteenth victory in the league this season at the expense of Bilbao (1-0).
Atletico Madrid owes this victory to its Argentine striker Julian Alvarez, who scored the only goal of the match in the 66th minute.
With this victory, Atletico Madrid raised its score to 55 points in the lead temporarily, while Bilbao's score froze at 48 points in fourth place.
In the second match, Real Betis achieved a valuable victory over its guest, Real Madrid, by two goals to one.
