London - Saba:
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said replacing him will not be "easy", after a summit held on Sunday in London, attended by leaders of European countries allied with Ukraine to show their support for Kiev and commit to doing more for security in Europe and increasing defense spending.
Zelensky stated that replacing him would not be easy, at a time when the administration of US President Donald Trump wants him to leave because of his refusal to submit to Moscow's demands.
Zelensky said in press statements in London, "Given what is happening, and given the support, replacing me simply will not be that easy."
Zelensky also said via Telegram after a meeting with his allies yesterday, Sunday, in London, "We will define our common positions, what we want to achieve and what is non-negotiable, and these positions will be presented to our American partners."
The Ukrainian president stressed that the priority is to reach "a solid and lasting peace and a good agreement to end the war."
Kyiv's allies tried to unite on Sunday after being shaken by the rapprochement between Washington and Moscow, and after being stunned by the attack on Zelensky on Friday at the White House.
At the invitation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, fifteen European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, pledged to support Kyiv and strengthen their armaments against Russia.
Trump accused Zelensky on Friday at the White House in front of the cameras of "putting himself in a very bad position" and demanded that he achieve peace with Russia or the United States would "abandon" him.
Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron suggested that European countries increase their defense spending to between 3 and 3.5 percent of GDP, in the face of the change in American policies under Trump, who began talks with Russia to end the war in Ukraine, without inviting the Europeans and Kyiv.
For his part, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said after the end of the meeting in London, which Zelensky attended, that "Europe must bear the greatest burden, but in order to support peace on our continent, and to succeed in that, this effort must have strong support from the United States."
