Gaza – SABA:
The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) warned on Wednesday about the continued power outage in Gaza for over 16 months, along with the disconnection of the electricity supply to the desalination plant in Deir al-Balah, calling it a war crime that threatens a catastrophic water crisis in the Strip.
In a statement, Hamas declared that using water and food as weapons against innocent civilians represents a dangerous escalation within the systematic policies aimed at deepening the humanitarian disaster in Gaza. The movement stressed that such actions constitute a serious violation of the ceasefire agreement and a blatant breach of international humanitarian law.
Hamas also condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, which is wanted by the International Criminal Court, for committing unprecedented collective punishment against over two million people in Gaza. The statement criticized the international community’s silence and failure to uphold its moral and legal responsibilities. Hamas also referenced global humanitarian organizations, including Amnesty International, which recently called for preventing Israel from using water as a weapon of war.
The movement urged the Arab world, the United Nations, and humanitarian organizations to take urgent action to stop these atrocities, calling for immediate measures to lift the siege on Gaza and hold Israeli leaders accountable before international justice.
