Ramallah – SABA:
The "Prisoners' Information Office" has revealed that 70 Palestinian child prisoners in "Damon" prison are enduring severe detention conditions and inhumane treatment.
In a press statement on Saturday, the office—affiliated with the Hamas movement—stated that the children in "Damon" prison are suffering from dire circumstances, with widespread infestations of insects in their cells. They are subjected to frequent surprise inspections, where they are handcuffed and forced to stand outside for hours in freezing temperatures. Their personal belongings and clothing are also confiscated.
The office confirmed that Palestinian children arrested by the Israeli occupation are prosecuted in illegal military courts and detained arbitrarily without clear charges, in blatant violation of international laws.
According to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club, since the start of the genocide war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, a total of 15,640 Palestinians have been arrested in the West Bank, including those still in detention and those later released. There is no precise data on arrests in Gaza, but estimates suggest the number is in the thousands.
