The Emergency Committee in Sana'a Governorate, in its meeting today, chaired by the Deputy Governor for the Services Sector and Vice Chairman of the Committee, Fares Al-Kohali, discussed preparations to mitigate potential flood damage during the current rainy season and proactive measures to avoid any property losses.
The meeting, which included the Director of Civil Defense, Colonel Mohammed Jaafar; the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund, Engineer Sami Al-Turabi; the Technical Secretariat, Mohammed Sharqan; the Public Works Official, Engineer Mohammed Ashiyah; the Executive Unit for Projects, Engineer Mohammed Makram; the Deputy Director of the Health and Environment Office, Dr. Mohammed Al-Harsh; the Director of Prevention and Protection in Civil Defense, Dr. Sami Al-Jaboubi; the Disaster Coordinator of the Red Crescent in the Governorate, Ahmed Musaad; and a number of engineers and specialists, reviewed priorities for addressing any damage that may occur due to rainfall and flooding in valleys during this year's rainy season.
The attendees discussed the matrix of needs for emergency response during the second half of 1446 AH (2019), as well as the measures and preparations to implement emergency measures to mitigate expected losses and damage.
The Deputy Governor and Vice Chairman of the Committee also inspected several flood paths and culverts on Al-Khamsin Street.
Al-Kohali, along with the Executive Director of the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund and the Executive Projects Unit official, reviewed the proactive work and activities being implemented to clean and prepare flood paths on Gaza Street and Andalusia University Street.
The Deputy Governor stressed the need to quickly complete the necessary interventions in flood paths so that delays do not burden the field teams tasked with responding to emergencies.
He urged the mobilization of efforts and capabilities and working as a single team to address the potential repercussions of the rainy season, emphasizing the governorate's leadership's interest and commitment to avoiding and minimizing damage.
