The Yemeni Authority for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control destroyed expired and non-compliant goods in Hodeida and Sa'ada Governorates.
In a statement issued today, a copy of which was received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the Authority explained that it destroyed globes depicting a world map bearing the name of the Zionist entity, as well as used car spare parts in Hodeida Governorate, as these are prohibited products under Ministerial Resolution No. (481) of 2009.
In Hodeida, women's second hand trousers were destroyed. They were worn and torn, and are among the products prohibited from import under the Authority's Circular No. 11 of 1444 AH and Cabinet Resolution No. 63 of 2018.
The statement noted that industrial drinking powders were destroyed in Sa'ada Governorate, as they did not conform to approved standard specifications. These products are prohibited from import.
It noted that these goods were destroyed in cooperation with customs, security agencies, and relevant authorities, in accordance with legal procedures and the Authority's mandate to protect consumer health and safety and prevent the entry of any goods that do not meet specifications.
The Authority urged all importers to adhere to the requirements and not import prohibited products, stressing that it will not tolerate any products that do not meet specifications and standards, in order to preserve consumer safety as the first line of defense.
