Sana'a - Saba:
The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning has forecast thunderstorms of varying intensity across a number of governorates.
Several governorates will be affected by a widespread dust storm coming from the central and eastern Arabian Peninsula over the next 24 hours.
The center stated in its weather bulletin that thunderstorms of varying intensity, possibly reaching heavy levels, are expected in parts of the governorates of Dhamar, Raymah, Ibb, Amran, Hajjah, Al Mahwit, and western Sana'a.
Light to moderate rain, sometimes accompanied by thunder, is also expected in parts of the governorates of Lahj, Taiz, Al Dhale'e, Al Bayda, western Sa'ada, and eastern Al Hodeida.
The center reported that the rainfall over the past 24 hours, measured at some meteorological stations, was as follows: Amran-Qa' al-Bun: 14.6 mm, Amran: 12.2 mm, Ibb-As-Saddah: 8.8 mm, Dhamar: 3.0 mm, Sana'a-Haddah: 1.5 mm, Dhamar-Rasaba: 1.0 mm, and Sana'a-Jihanah: 0.6 mm.
Scattered rain also fell on parts of the western highlands and interior plateaus outside the monitoring stations.
According to the center, the desert regions and interior plateaus of our country were affected over the past 24 hours by a widespread dust wave coming from the central and eastern Arabian Peninsula and extending to parts of the highlands, leading to reduced horizontal visibility, with visibility reaching 1 km in Ataq, 4 km in Sayun, and 7 km in Sana'a.
He indicated that, based on an analysis of various weather maps and numerical model outputs, the dust wave is expected to continue to affect desert areas and the interior plateaus over the coming hours, extending to the mountainous highlands and possibly even coastal areas.
The center warned citizens to avoid valleys and flood channels during and after rainfall, and to avoid thunderstorms.
It also cautioned against taking necessary precautions to avoid reduced horizontal visibility and to avoid direct exposure to dust.
