Gaza – Saba:
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club stated on Wednesday that the Zionist enemy authorities continue to escalate their targeting of journalists through arbitrary arrests.
In a press release, the Club noted that the number of detained journalists has risen to 55, including 50 journalists who have been arrested since the start of the genocide.
It emphasized that the Zionist enemy has intensified its unprecedented campaign against journalists since the outbreak of the ongoing genocide.
The statement revealed that a total of 195 journalists have been subjected to arrest or detention since the beginning of the genocide, the latest being the arrest of journalist Farah Abu Ayyash earlier this morning.
The Club affirmed that the enemy seeks, through these arrests, to silence journalists, suppress the truth about the horrific crimes it is committing, undermine the Palestinian narrative, and impose tighter censorship and control over their work.
It added that most of the arrested journalists face so-called "incitement" charges based on their social media posts or media coverage, while others are held under administrative detention on the pretext of having a “secret file.”
Detained journalists in the occupation’s prisons and camps are subjected to the same violations as other prisoners, including systematic torture, severe beatings, starvation, medical neglect, and constant abuse and humiliation. They are also subjected to punitive measures and deprived of basic rights, all while being held in harsh and degrading conditions.
