Tehran – SABA:
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Iraqchi stated on Wednesday that discussions regarding negotiations with Washington have occurred and are ongoing, noting that messages have been exchanged.
In a televised interview, when asked about potential talks with the U.S., Iraqchi said:
- "There are no set dates, but discussions have taken place and continue. We have received messages."
- "Whether negotiations will happen in the future depends on circumstances. We fight where necessary and negotiate where necessary. We will not waste any available tools to achieve national interests."
On Past Negotiations & Iran’s Position**
Iraqchi emphasized:
- "We were well-prepared in previous negotiations and did not fall short."
- "Pre-war talks proved Iran’s legitimacy and just stance against the Zionist entity and America."
- "Many condemned the attacks and defended Iran. Nearly all international organizations—except the UN Security Council—condemned these aggressions."
- "The world saw that Iran has not abandoned diplomacy. Our arguments were heard, proving the legitimacy of Iran’s self-defense."
Regarding the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the planned visit by its Deputy Director General:
- "The Deputy Director General is coming for dialogue, not inspection or assessment."
- "He is not coming to inspect. We must see how arrangements proceed. If mutual understanding is reached, cooperation will naturally continue."
- "The travel deadline is not yet fixed, but its scope is defined."
