ALGERIA September 08. 2024 (Saba)- Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune won a second presidential term after receiving 94.65 percent of the votes, the Independent National Electoral Authority (ANIE) announced on Sunday evening.
During a press conference, the head of the Independent National Electoral Authority, Mohamed Cherfi, said that the result of the counting inside and outside the country recorded 5,630,196 votes for the three candidates, expressing "deep satisfaction with the wide participation of citizens in this electoral entitlement."
Cherfi announced that the turnout in the elections held on Saturday was 48.03%, while the turnout among the Algerian community living abroad was 19.57%.
Three candidates competed in the elections: incumbent President Abdelmadjid Tebboune as an independent candidate, Youssef Ochich, first secretary of the Socialist Forces Front, and Abdelali Hassani Cherif, head of the Society for Peace Movement.
The Algerian electoral authority said it recorded 6,689 activities, including 1,529 rallies held by the three candidates and their representatives.
