Rabat - Saba:
A recent study has shown that children with low birth weight are less prepared to enter school between the ages of three and five.
The study, which included 1,400 American children with low birth weight, showed that only 30% of these children were eligible to start school, based on four basic criteria: early learning skills, self-control, social skills development, and physical health.
The study indicated that a child's birth weight is not only an indicator of their future academic abilities, but also of their financial and physical health as an adult.
Doctors stressed the importance of supporting children through practices such as reading to them and maintaining healthy bedtimes to develop their mental and social abilities.
