The main stock indices on the U.S. Wall Street Stock Exchange closed higher at the end of trading.
The S&P 500 index rose by 19.65 points, or 0.31 percent, to close at 6263.41 points, while the Nasdaq Composite Index gained 51.82 points, or 0.25 percent, to 20729.62 points.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 220.61 points, or 0.50 percent, ending the session at 44243.90 points.
