World number two Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus claimed her third Grand Slam title on Sunday after defeating sixth-ranked Jessica Pegula of the United States in the final of the US Open tennis tournament in New York City.

Sabalenka, last year's runner-up, dominated the match to win in two sets, 7-5, 7-5, to regain the top spot in the WTA rankings.

Sabalenka lost the final of the competition last year to American Coco Goff, and it is her second Grand Slam title this year, after her victory in Australia, becoming the first player to win the Australian and US Open titles in one year, since Angelique Kerber in 2016.
