A recent study has shown that AI-generated comments on memes outperformed those created by humans in terms of humor, creativity, and engagement rates.
However, humans are still capable of producing the most creative and impactful memes individually.
The results of the study, published by the arXiv website and expected to be presented at the 2025 International Conference on Intelligent User Interfaces, indicate that AI can create widely popular humorous content.
The study's authors conducted a test divided into three scenarios: memes created solely by humans, humans collaborated with an AI model to improve the content, or memes created entirely by AI.
The memes focused on topics related to work, food, and sports, with work memes receiving the highest ratings, and AI outperforming them on average in terms of humor and engagement.
