New York - Saba:
Philippe Lazzariny, Commissioner-General of UNRWA, said that the West Bank has become a "battlefield" with more than 50 Palestinians killed since the beginning of the year as a result of a large-scale operation launched by the Israeli occupation army.
He pointed out that the war in Gaza has extended to the West Bank, where the destruction of infrastructure, bulldozing of roads and restricting access have become common practices.
Lazzariny added that about 40,000 people, especially in refugee camps in the northern West Bank, have been forced to flee their homes due to military operations.
He stressed that the current situation has brought back trauma and losses to the local population, amid a severe shortage of basic services.
